I'm an associate professor at the University of Tsukuba and the National Institute of Informatics, Japan. My research focuses on Information Retrieval, including retrieval algorithms, evaluation, and user search behavior.

Information retrieval — retrieval algorithms, evaluation, and user search behavior — with more recent work on data search and client-side information retrieval for supporting researchers' information seeking.
NTCIR
A long-standing contributor to NTCIR, an information-access evaluation forum in Asia, including roles as Program Chair and General Chair.
Community Service
PC Co-chair of SIGIR 2023 and SIGIR-AP 2026, and editorial roles for ACM Transactions on Information Systems and the Information Retrieval Research Journal.
Awards
ACM Multimedia 2018 Best Paper Award and WISE 2008 Kambayashi Best Paper Award.
